Church Structural Repairs

Since  Autumn (’09) St. Stephen’s Church has been undergoing extensive structural repairs to the East end wall. As a result of this  St. Stephen’s has been closed – to congregation and visitors for several months.

From October ’09 our Sunday services have been held elsewhere whilst the work is in progress and we are grateful to St. Peter Mancroft for the use of their Chantry Hall in Chantry Road (just next to the Assembly Rooms).

The structural repair work will also mean the temporary closure of Coffee Centre.

The church office has now moved to the Vicarage, please  ‘phone: 07887 472 678  or email: ststephensnorwich@googlemail.com to make contact with us during the building work. The website will also be kept updated.

As well  our Sunday services, St. Stephen’s offers a warm welcome to all every day of the week -

Open Church

Inside Church 16

The church is open, Monday to Saturday 10am to 12noon. Visitors are welcome to come in and see this ancient church and to enjoy its quiet peacefulness and beauty.

Due to the structural repairs, the church is closed at the present time.

Coffee Centre

Inside Autumn 58 Meeting Room

Since the 1990′s coffee has been served at St. Stephen’s originally at the west end of the church. Now located in the Meeting Room, the Coffee Centre is open Monday – Saturday 10 am until 12 noon, summer and winter (see news). Run by church members and volunteers it offers a  warm welcome, teas, coffees and delicious cakes. It is a place to relax and refresh or to chat to a friendly face – an ‘oasis’ in the centre of Norwich’s  shopping district. In the summer visitors can sit outside. There is disabled access via the glazed West door. The Coffee Centre is not open during the church structural repairs.

In 2005 with the construction of the Chapelfield shopping centre, the churchyard underwent re-landscaping resulting in a quiet and restful green space, which many enjoy to sit in, within the centre of the city.
